Renowned Pleasanton watercolorist Charlotte Severin is wrapping up her 35th and final year of teaching her “Art Made Easy” class with her students’ art show next week at the Pleasanton Senior Center.
“Painting is a celebration of life for me,” Severin said in a press release ahead of the exhibition. “I love bringing joy to other people through my paintings.”
“I have been teaching this class for the past 35 years and will miss this very important part of my life. I have students who have been taking lessons from me for many years,” she added of her retirement from teaching.
An award-winning artist whose works have been displayed in public and private collections in the United States and abroad, Severin teaches watercolor techniques to artists in the Tri-Valley through the class sponsored by the city of Pleasanton. Her students then display their original paintings in an annual exhibition open to the public.
This year’s class includes Cynthia Altman, Claudia Curran, Henry Murakami, Gerri Vegas, Ava Chinn, Judy Lundquist, Sue Inouye, Beth Green, Akila Venkat, Arlie Alford and Trish Adams. Their teacher will also show some of her new work alongside theirs in the exhibition.
The 35th “Art Made Easy” art show is set to run next Monday through Friday (May 11-15) at the Pleasanton Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Blvd.
