National Day of Prayer
More than a dozen faith leaders of various denominations are set to join next Thursday (May 1) for the county’s sixth annual National Day of Prayer event at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
Organized by Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert and his District 1 Interfaith Advisory Council, the free event will include a reception and light dinner at 5 p.m., patriotic music performances at 5:30 p.m. and the main program at 6 p.m. in the fairgrounds’ amphitheater.

100 years of Sunol School
The Sunol community is gathering this Saturday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sunol Glen School with a parade and other festivities downtown.
The procession down Main Street is set to start at 9 a.m., followed by remarks, tours and student performances at the historic school from 9:45 a.m. to noon. Sunol Railbus Rides and live music, food and activities at the Sunol Depot Garden will begin at noon.

The Romantics at the fair
Detroit rock band The Romantics, best known for their hits including “What I Like About You” in the late 1970s and early 1980s, have been revealed as the final act booked to fill out the bill for the 2025 Big O Tires Concert Series at the Alameda County Fair.
Fair officials were forced to regroup in recent weeks after the original group scheduled for the June 15 concert, The Gap Band, canceled their tour. Enter The Romantics, whose other memorable songs include “Talking In Your Sleep”, “One in a Million” and “Rock You Up”.
Tickets for The Romantics went on sale this week. For information on that show and the rest of the concerts, visit annual.alamedacountyfair.com. The fair arrives in Pleasanton on June 13 and will be open Wednesdays through Fridays until July 6, with a concert every night except Independence Day.
PPIE Run for Education

The Pleasanton Partnerships in Education Foundation is holding its annual Run for Education on Sunday morning (April 27) at the fairgrounds
The fundraising walk/run will feature a flat 10-kilometer course that starts at 7:50 a.m. and winds through city streets and the Marilyn Murphy Kane Trail, a 5K course and 2-mile walk through downtown at 8 a.m. and a quarter-mile kids’ challenge run in the fairgrounds at 9:15 a.m.

Military equipment use by PPD
The Pleasanton Police Department is hosting a community meeting on its use of military equipment next Tuesday (April 29) from 5-6 p.m. in the Remillard Room at the city’s Operations Services Center at 3333 Busch Road.
The event provides an opportunity for residents “to discuss and ask questions regarding our annual military equipment use report (per AB 481) and the police department’s funding, acquisition, or use of military equipment,” city officials said. Access the report at https://ow.ly/zr2K50VBRYj.
The Moanin’ Frogs in concert

Del Valle Fine Arts is presenting The Moanin’ Frogs in concert this Saturday evening at the Bankhead Theater in downtown Livermore.
“Conservatory trained, their genre-bending and dynamic renditions of classical, ragtime, jazz and pop delight fans worldwide,” DVFA officials said. “Featuring six saxophones from soprano to bass … their passion, quality, variety, instrumentation and focus on the audience experience set them apart.”
