Wine auction
The Livermore Valley Winegrowers Foundation is holding its annual wine auction fundraiser on Saturday (Oct. 5) at 6 p.m. at Wente Vineyards Event Center in Livermore.
The event will feature wine tastings from local vintners, live music, dancing and of course the silent and live auctions.
Six area nonprofits have been picked as the beneficiaries: Teen Esteem+, Agape Villages Foster Family Agency, Boys and Girls Clubs of Tracy, Down Syndrome Connection, Livermore Valley Arts and Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

Our final forum
Embarcadero Media Foundation’s East Bay Division is moderating its seventh and final Tri-Valley candidate forum of the season this Sunday afternoon in Danville.
Participating are all four candidates for the three at-large seats on the Danville Town Council: incumbents Newell Arnerich and Renee Morgan and newcomers Mark Belotz and Julia Gillette.
The event is set for 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 6). Due to unforeseen circumstances, the format has changed to online-only. There will be no in-person meeting anymore.

Fire Safety Expo
The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and local firefighters are presenting the city’s Fire Safety Expo this Saturday (Oct. 5) from 8 a.m. to noon at the LPFD Training Tower at 3333 Busch Road in Pleasanton.
“The event will feature giveaways, firefighter demonstrations, fire escape planning, information on fire safety, and much more,” organizers said.
“The public can interact in our Fire Safety Trailer, learn how to use a fire extinguisher, see a police demonstration and meet Sparky the Fire Dog,” they added. “A children’s obstacle course is also included in this family event, along with disaster preparedness information and various other demonstrations and activities.”
The Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters Foundation will host the popular free pancake breakfast at the starting time and the “Dunk the Chief” later on. Go to lpfire.org.
Fall Home Show
The 38th annual Fall Home Show is taking place at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton this weekend.
“Our event features hundreds of quality exhibits covering a wide range of home and garden products and services,” organizers said. “In the yard section, you’ll find everything from landscaping to pools and spas, fencing, ladders, pottery and outdoor furniture. For the home, we have exhibits showcasing furniture, floors, windows, shutters, fine art, cabinetry and remodeling services.”
