Puppy love was in the air at Oakland International Airport last week as dogs from Valley Humane Society’s Canine Comfort pet-assisted therapy team greeted passengers and airport employees for two hours on Valentine’s Day.

“Dogs have a special way of bringing a smile to people’s faces,” Melanie Sadek, president of the Pleasanton-based nonprofit, told the Weekly. “With this focus, visiting travelers at the Oakland Airport seems like a perfect opportunity. Traveling is stressful. Regardless of how you feel about flying, just the trip to the airport, going through security, and then finding your gate has an impact on your mental health.”
