The Smooth Jazz Series is returning to City Center Bishop Ranch for the second year, after making its debut last summer.
Set at the center of the shopping district in Alexander Square, the three-event concert series features a lineup of world-renowned jazz talent.
“This series brings world-class jazz to the heart of San Ramon, enriching the city’s cultural offerings and creating opportunities for neighbors to connect. It’s a celebration of music, community and summer evenings spent together,” said Jeff Dodd, senior vice president of retail at Sunset Development Company, which owns and operates City Center.

Sunset officials led the effort to create and organize the Smooth Jazz Series.
“At City Center Bishop Ranch, we’re always looking for ways to bring the San Ramon community together through memorable experiences. Last summer marked the debut of our Smooth Jazz Series, and the response was incredible. That success inspired us to bring it back – this time with new partnerships with local restaurants, creating an elevated evening out for our guests,” Dodd said.
The series is free and open to the public. Guests have the option to upgrade their evening by reserving premium stage-front seating, opting for patio dining, or grabbing dinner to-go and enjoying it picnic-style on the lawn, officials wrote. Beer, wine, and cocktails will also be available for purchase.
The performances will be held Saturdays throughout the month at 7 p.m., beginning this Saturday (July 12).
The series is set to kick off this weekend with a performance by Jonathan Butler, a Grammy-nominated South African guitarist and singer-songwriter recognized for his work in R&B, jazz fusion and gospel.
He will be followed by acclaimed artists Brian Simpson and Jackiem Joyner, who will deliver a collaborative performance on July 19. Concluding the series on July 26, renowned smooth jazz trumpeter Rick Braun will take the stage.
