As this year’s cowboys and cowgirls get ready to saddle up for the annual Livermore Rodeo next weekend, the century-old organization will also be celebrating a crowning achievement — being named a ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee.

The recognition “celebrates decades of dedication, leadership, and service to the sport of rodeo and the communities it touches”, Livermore Rodeo officials said on social media.

“On the behalf of the Livermore Rodeo and the Livermore Rodeo Foundation we are deeply honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame,” Dave Finster, Livermore Rodeo president, said in the Instagram post April 15. “This opportunity would not be possible without the past and present fans, volunteers, board members and directors! We are grateful to join the hall of fame alongside the other Class of 2025 inductees!”

The 2025 induction ceremony, which will be held in July at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado, will recognize the Livermore Stockmen’s Rodeo Association and its 107-year-old local rodeo for “exceptional contributions to preserving the Western way of life and producing world-class rodeo events”.

“Over 100 years is pretty impressive,” said Colby Staysa, the secretary of Livermore Rodeo. “We’re excited to share this with our local government and with our parks district and to celebrate with them as well.”

The rodeo has been one of Livermore’s oldest annual traditions and, according to the rodeo committee, it has also grown to become one of the most respected and honored events in the region as it draws thousands of visitors each year.

This year’s festivities will kick off a week early on Saturday (June 7) with the 2025 Princess Coronation & Dinner.

The festivities will then pick back up on Wednesday (June 11) with a mixer featuring dinner and dancing, followed the next day with some road slacking.

After that, on Friday (June 13), will be the 2025 PRCA team roping and a cowgirl luncheon.

Per tradition, the first day of the rodeo itself will be dedicated to showing support for breast cancer research and awareness with its “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” theme. Rodeo attendees and participants will be encouraged to wear pink.

Prior to the start of the rodeo itself next Saturday (June 14), the Rotary Club of Livermore will welcome the weekend with its annual rodeo parade, which begins at 10 a.m. that Saturday and will go through downtown Livermore. The club has been organizing the parade since 1977.

Prior to the start of the 107th annual rodeo, gates will open at 11 a.m. at the rodeo grounds, located at 3000 Robertson Park Road. Grand entry for the rodeo will begin at 3 p.m.

Day two, per tradition, will pay homage to the U.S. with “Patriot Day” where everyone will be encouraged to wear red, white or blue. That Sunday (June 15), the festivities will once again begin early with the Lil’ Pardners Rodeo, which starts at 11 a.m. The rodeo will once again begin at 3 p.m. that day.
