This summer, theater fans will have the opportunity to watch local talent deliver a William Shakespeare classic while taking in scenic views of the Tri-Valley.

For its 2024 Shakespeare in the Vineyard series, SPARC Theater is set to produce over 10 performances of “Twelfth Night” between July 5-28. Shows will take place outdoors at Darcie Kent Vineyards in Livermore at 7:30 p.m.

“Twelfth Night” director (and SPARC Theater artistic director) Lisa Tromovitch said casting for the production has already begun.

“We are excited to showcase these professional local artists while bringing the magic of live theater to our community in a unique and beautiful setting,” Tromovitch said in the production announcement.

“Our goal is to create an immersive experience that allows families from across the region to experience the joy of live theater while fostering community and creating lasting memories underneath the stars,” she added.

First performed in 1602, “Twelfth Night” tells the story of twins Viola and Sebastian who become separated after their ship wrecks. As the plot continues to unfold, a love triangle begins to form among the characters.

SPARC Theater said the play is filled with romance and laughter, offering pure entertainment suitable for all ages.

The theater will be highlighting Bay Area talents for their summer production of “Twelfth Night”. Representatives said that sourcing local performers is vital to the success of the theater company and the Tri-Valley performing arts community.

“Nurturing local professionals ensures continued support for a high-quality ecosystem of theater workers,” they said.

Two of the shows (July 5 and 18) will be dedicated as “Family Night.” Children 17 and under can receive discounted tickets for these shows. Lawn games and snacks will also be available.
