The Amador Valley boys’ soccer team kept its impressive run alive, opening the East Bay Athletic League season with a 2-1 win over Livermore.

The Dons broke a scoreless tie just before halftime when Mateo Eichler buried a goal off a Jio Lee assist.

Livermore came back and tied it in the 44th minute, but the Dons went right down and scored the game-winner when Lucas Cimas scored off an Eichler assist.

The game turned physical and there were multiple yellow cards issued. Livermore made a late push, but the Amador defense held to give the Dons the win.

Amador’s junior varsity team also started the EBAL season with a win, topping Livermore by a 1-0 final.

Player of the Match Nico Rodriguez scored off a Taru Aware cross in the second half to secure the win.

The defense secured the shutout through solid efforts by Jace Danielson, Josue Reyes Perez, Mathias Tempero and Noah Camp.

The Amador freshman team had a mixed week, winning one and losing one.

The win was a 5-0 romp over College Park. Yabin Dong scored a hat trick in the first half, with Rishen Patel and Alex Carlson adding the final two goals in the second half.

Earlier in the week, the Dons dropped a 3-0 game to Berkeley.

Foothill boys’ soccer

The Falcons won a pair of games last week, one in league and one non-league affair.

Foothill opened EBAL play with a 1-0 win over Dougherty Valley. Kevin Tippet scored the lone goal for the Falcons.

Two days later it was a convincing 6-0 win over Mission San Jose.

Tippet scored twice as did Ashrith Gandluru. Nickolas Valencia and Kavin Srivastava scored one goal each to round out the scoring.

The Dons came into the EBAL as one of the favorites, but someone forgot to tell Livermore as the Cowboys handed the Dons a 74-63 loss in the opening league game for both teams.

Cade Krueger had 26 points for the Dons and Elijah Stanley added 14 points. Jaylen Smith added nine points for the Dons.

The next day, Amador fell 69-47 to Modesto Christian.

Amador girls’ soccer

The Dons opened defense of their EBAL title with a 2-0 win over Livermore.

Addison Stout gave the Dons a 1-0 lead with a goal from 25 yards out. Five minutes later it was 2-0 when Stout put a corner kick on Mia Harris, who in turn put it away for the final goal.

The second half was all about ball control and the Dons did their job, controlling the majority of the possession time.
