Police have arrested all eight males they believe are responsible for a January carjacking in San Jose.
At approximately 1:08 p.m. Jan. 12, San Jose police responded to a report of a carjacking at a park near Sandpebble and Vistapark drives.
A man was approached by a group of males who allegedly used their vehicles to trap the victim. While the victim attempted to flee, the suspects allegedly violently assaulted him and took his vehicle keys.
The suspects fled prior to police arriving. The stolen vehicle was located that morning near Valleyhaven and Stoneyhaven ways.
Investigators identified eight suspects, including 18-year-old Hector Sanchez, and seven juvenile male suspects ranging from 15 to 17 years old. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for all eight suspects and search warrants for their homes.
One juvenile male, who was already in custody for an unrelated crime, was arrested and booked on March 25. Another juvenile was arrested two days later in San Jose and booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.
Police arrested Sanchez and four juvenile suspects on May 1 in San Jose. With assistance from Livermore police, another juvenile was arrested in Livermore.
Sanchez was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail and the juveniles booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of carjacking, assault, and robbery.
