Pacific Chamber Orchestra’s premier fundraising event, the Tri-Valley Craft Cocktail Competition, is back this weekend for the second year.

Taking place in the Bankhead Plaza outside the downtown Livermore theater, the event is set to feature creative concoctions from 17 of the region’s top mixologists competing for cash prizes, trophies and bragging rights, according to a statement from event organizers.

Last year’s inaugural event sold out with 300 in attendance. “The bartenders went all out with their drinks and booth displays. It was a magical day. This year I advise everyone to get their tickets ASAP as we are already on the way towards another sellout,” PCO Director Lawrence Kohl said.

The annual competition benefits PCO’s in-school education programming and main concerts at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore and the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church.

Official judges for the contest include Weekly editor Cierra Bailey, Barney Fonzi from Diablo Magazine, Christina Cavallaro from The Independent and Anne Giancola with Livermore Valley Arts. However, all attendees will be able to taste the cocktails, snack on nibbles from local restaurants, enjoy the social camaraderie, vote for their favorite cocktail and take home a souvenir mini-cocktail shot glass.

“We are truly honored and grateful to support and be a part of this awesome experience for the Tri-Valley Community,” said Jennifer Haus, owner of Keller Williams Tri-Valley, which is returning as the lead sponsor.

Participating bartenders represent popular establishments from across the Tri-Valley, including Hops and Sessions, Sons of Liberty, Sauced BBQ & Spirits, The Syndicate, Mornings on First, Sabio on Main, Nightcaps at Espresso Rosetta, Crush’d Wine Bar & Kitchen, The Black Cat, Rebel Kitchen & Libations, Bourbon Pear, Demitri’s Taverna, The Fat Pigeon, Market Tavern, Sidewinder Spirits Co., Pete’s Brass Rail and Car Wash, and Azotea.

Restaurants providing small bites include First Street Ale House, Hops and Sessions, Robeks, Sauced BBQ & Spirits and Uncle Yu’s at the Vineyard.

Tickets for the competition set for Saturday (May 3) from 4:30-6:30 p.m. are $75 per person and can be found at tvc3.info along with more information.
