Three Bay Area youth baseball teams, including one from the Tri-Valley, still have hopes of making it to the Little League World Series when they play in the Northern California regional tournament starting this weekend in Chico.
San Ramon Valley Little League, Mill Valley Little League and Los Gatos Little League are all competing in the double-elimination NorCal tournament starting Saturday against four other teams in their age bracket for children up to 12 years old.
The winner would then also have to win the West Region tournament in San Bernardino in early August to go to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn. The international tournament brings together some of the best youth baseball teams from countries around the world.
Mill Valley won their section tournament in Concord on Tuesday, while San Ramon Valley won theirs the same day in Castro Valley and Los Gatos won theirs Wednesday in Aptos.
The NorCal tournament starts Saturday in Chico.
Little League’s Intermediate 50/70 World Series for the next age bracket of up to 13-year-olds takes place annually in Livermore and starts Aug. 2.
Bollinger Canyon Little League from San Ramon has already qualified as one of the teams competing among six from the U.S. and six internationally at Max Baer Park in Livermore.
