Residents in a Pleasanton neighborhood were awoken by the sound of exploding ammunition during a shed fire early Saturday morning.

The incident unfolded at around 2:30 a.m. on the 800 block of Abbie Street, not far from downtown. Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department personnel were called out to a report of a structure fire, with responding units finding flames actively burning at the side of a house, according to battalion chief Craig LaRont.
At the scene, a shed, car, carport awning with miscellaneous items, 30-foot fence and exterior wall of a detached 10-foot-by-20-foot building were burning, according to LaRont. The main house sustained minor damage from two windows that broke, while the house next door was undamaged.
Neighbors said they heard explosions during the fire, reported to be ammunition that was stored at the property, according to LaRont. No injuries were reported during the incident.
LPFD crews — which included four engines, one truck and two battalion chiefs — were on scene for approximately two hours for the firefight and mop-up, according to LaRont. The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.
