Interested members of the public as well as club members are welcome to attend, at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 on Zoom. A short business meeting will be followed by Frey’s presentation.

Frey will speak on “Community Focused Garden Design.” A slideshow will include examples of the principles and practices of creating sustainable gardens that are places of delight for humans and wildlife.

She specializes in the design of sustainable organic habitat gardens that reflect the soils, climate conditions and biodiversity of their locations while providing abundant, year-round habitat for pollinators.

Dolores Bengtson, publicity chairwoman for the club, noted that members are willing to help those in the community learn more about gardening.

“Just talking with the owners of the local gardening stores, they are experiencing a surge in gardening interest they haven’t seen in a long time,” Bengtson said. “That surely explains why our Zoom meetings are experiencing such public interest.”

Livermore Amador Valley Garden Club members continue maintaining the Livermore Hansen Park Rose Garden, using masks and social distancing, as well as the Pleasanton Sensory Garden next to the Senior Center. Also a crew continues to care for Eden Garden, harvesting organic produce for local food banks.

Members of the public may contact Jeri Stark at president@lavgc.org to receive contact information for the Zoom meeting. For more information about the club, visit www.lavgc.org.
