The Rotary Club of Pleasanton presented Pleasanton high school seniors and college juniors and seniors with scholarships in honor of former distinguished Rotarians. The funds received for the scholarships were raised through the annual Halloween Spirit Run held by the club.
Through donations, the Rotary Club awarded $48,000 to high school seniors at Amador Valley High School, Foothill High School and Village High School, and $24,000 to local college students.
Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Matthew Do (Roger Dabney Scholarship) from Foothill High School, Shree Billa (Warren Annis “Service Above Self” Scholarship), Arian Moghni (“Senor Bob” Athenour Global Humanitarian Scholarship) and Yazmin Martinez-Portilla (Harry Plett Scholarship) from Amador Valley High School.
Other scholarships for high school seniors were awarded to Vianey Acosta, Tyler Bury, Erika Hernandez Paz and Martin Martinez-Ribera from Amador Valley; Cassandra Raphael and Claire VanHorn from Foothill; and Tyler Dawe and Ramprasad Venkalesaprabu from Village.
Additional scholarships were awarded to college juniors Ricardo Alvarez and Nicole Medina, and college seniors Carlissa Bass, Samantha Do, Owen Houghtelling, Julia Lee, Jessica Nava, Karyna Russo, Logan Seitz and Aiden Wu.
