What do you think of the state’s debate on legalizing physician-assisted suicide for the terminally ill?

I think for someone who is in enormous pain and under stress both emotionally and financially, with no hope for a better future, that would be a kind thing to do. We do this for our beloved animals perhaps we should allow it for our beloved kin folk.

I feel conflicted. Pros are if someone is terminal and they are on their last legs and they want to go they should have that choice. On the other hand, there would have to be strict regulation so that no mistakes are made. I know if it were me I would want that choice.

I think life is too valuable to just give up. I do feel conflicted about the issue though, people should not have to suffer through the last years of their lives. It’s a tough question.

Being a veterinarian, I am allowed to assist people’s pets in what you might call “assisted suicide” with euthanasia and I feel it is a special gift to prevent suffering. I know that there are people that have had to go through suffering with their parents or other loved ones and I know they would have appreciated some sort of assistance in the end for that loved one.

I believe in physician-assisted suicide. The physician and family, with the advanced directive by the patient, should be able to use physician-assisted suicide.
