Amador ninth grade student Kyle Dietz shows-off his LEGO Mindstorm robot to nearly 100 children and their parents during “Robots at the Library,” an event held in conjunction with the Pleasanton Public Library’s summer reading program, “2006: A Space Odyssey.” Members from the Harvest Park Middle School Robotics Club demonstrated robots from their latest team challenge, “Escape from the Crater of Death,” all made from the LEGO Mindstorm kits. Student teams of two designed robots that could successfully navigate a steep ramp without falling, simulating the Mars Rovers escaping a Martian crater, as well as robots that could take photos and run on complicated codes.
