Several thousand turned out for the annual Alameda County Fair parade on Main Street last Saturday, with floats, marching bands and scores of convertibles carrying city, county and business notables that made it the largest ever.
Conveying the spirit of the parade are (from left) Pleasanton City Council members Steve Brozosky, Cindy McGovern and (partially hidden) Jerry Thorne. Despite the sign, Mayor Jennifer Hosterman was in Vancouver at a world peace conference. Vice Mayor Matt Sullivan had another commitment and also missed the show. On seeing the three council members, spectators along the route were heard to ask: “Which one’s the mayor?”
Leading the parade as Grand Marshal was Marc Meadors of Pleasanton-based Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, a fitting tribute to the Fair’s theme this year: Cars.
