Alma Dorothy Koester
Alma Koester died June 2 at the age of 87 in San Ramon.
She was born January 25, 1919, in Elizabeth, N.J. She first moved to Pleasanton in 1966. After living elsewhere, she returned in 1974 and made Pleasanton her home for the past 35 years. She graduated from Baton High School in 1936. She was employed by Hoepfel’s Market, her father’s butcher shop, and Simmons Co. in Elizabeth as a secretary. She loved animals, especially her dogs, taking photos and traveling. She was gracious, friendly, humble, considerate, cooperative, humorous and mostly devoted to God and her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Meadows of Oakley, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law William and Peg of New Jersey; and a niece and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Ida Hoepfel; her husband of 50 years, John, who died in 1998; son Jack, who died in 1977; and brother, Conrad.
Funeral services took place at Graham-Hitch Mortuary and burial followed at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery, both in Pleasanton.
Carl Herbert Stahlnecker
Carl Stahlnecker died June 16 at his home in Pleasanton.
He was born March 2, 1952, in Livermore. At the age of two he moved with his family to Pleasanton. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a sports car enthusiast.
He is survived by his mother, Gloria Stahlnecker of Pleasanton; brothers Paul Stahlnecker and Brian Stahlnecker; sister Annette Stahlnecker and nephew Scott Stahlnecker.
His father Elwood Stahlnecker preceded him in death.
Services and burial were private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Humane Society, 273 Spring St., Pleasanton 94566.
Thomas E. Wilson
Thomas Wilson died June 18 in Fremont from the effects of cancer.
He was born May 22, 1962, in Pennsylvania. He was raised in Pleasanton and graduated from Amador Valley High School. He worked for Norcal Swim Shop in Walnut Creek for the past six years. He was an avid swimmer his entire life, earning a swimming scholarship to the University of the Pacific. He also coached swimming for several years. He was a fan of the Oakland Raiders, Oakland A’s and Fantasy Football.
He is survived by his parents, Gene and Mary Lou Wilson of Pleasanton; brother Jeffrey Wilson and his wife Janette of Livermore; one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services were held as Callaghan Mortuary and burial took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery both in Livermore.
Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Robert Patterson
Robert Patterson died June 19 after a short illness.
He was born August 21, 1925, in San Francisco and lived in Pleasanton for the past 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII as a PT boat radioman. Following the war he worked for Pan American Airlines in Guam, Hawaii and Palo Alto. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller and retired from the Oakland Center as acting assistant chief after 39 years of service.
He was passionate about all things aviation. He loved to share stories, play golf, listen to big band music, watch John Wayne films, travel the world and work crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his six children.
His wife Evelyn preceded him in death in 1996.
Services were held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton. Burial took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Livermore.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Kathleen Grace Guyette
Kathleen Guyette, a 38-year Pleasanton resident, died June 21 in her Pleasanton home.
She was born on May 16, 1941, in Merced. She played several instruments and sang with the Camarata Singers in Salinas, the San Francisco Bach Choir and the San Francisco Choral Society, as well as the Las Positas Concert Choir and the Valley Choral Society, both in Livermore. She also participated in the Valley Choral Society Educational Outreach Program of Music in the Schools. For several summers, she also participated in the Berkshire Choral Festivals in Massachusetts, Ashland, Ore. and Santa Fe, N.M.
She is survived by her brother James Cline and his wife Arlene; six nieces and nephews; and 12 great-nieces and nephews.
Her husband John preceded her in death.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the Valley Concert Chorale.
Angelo Fanucchi
Angelo Fanucchi, a 42-year resident of Livermore, died June 12 at the age of 93.
He was born April 9, 1913, in Arcada, Calif. He started his business career in 1936, owning Golden Gate Supply Company in San Francisco. In 1954, he was the first to develop cardboard boxes for fruits and vegetables that are now used world-wide. He purchased the Granada Bowl in Livermore in 1964 to start his children up in business careers. The family has owned and operated Granada Bowl for 42 years. Until recently he also owned thoroughbred horses and went to the winners’ circle 37 times. He enjoyed going to the racetrack and fine dining.
He is survived by sons Dennis Fanucchi of Livermore and Robert Fanucchi of Oregon; daughter Sandy Crane and her husband Tom of Livermore; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Edna.
Mass was celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Church and burial took place at St. Michael Cemetery, both in Livermore.
