U.S. Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) will be hosting an Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) town hall in Dublin this Wednesday (June 17). The location will be sent to attendees upon registration.
The event, which lasts from 6-7:30 p.m., will feature the congressman and two expert special guests for a “wide-ranging conversation on issues that impact the AANHPI community”, according to a press release from the congressman’s office.
The two special guests are Gabriel “Jack” Chin, a professor of criminal law, criminal procedures and immigration at the University of California, Davis, and Nathan Tran, president of Asian Pacific American Public Affairs, Tri Valley chapter.
DeSaulnier will also be taking questions from Tri-Valley residents attending the town hall, according to his office.
The next day, DeSaulnier will host a virtual town hall where he and special guest Jeffrey Rosen, a New York Times bestselling author, contributing editor at The Atlantic and a law professor at George Washington University, will discuss America’s founding ahead of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
According to his office, DeSaulnier and Rosen will also discuss the “progress we have made since then to fulfill its promises, and where the country stands now at its sesquicentennial anniversary amid attacks by the Trump Administration on the Constitution and civil liberties”. Members of the audience will also be able to ask questions live.
The virtual event is scheduled to start Thursday (June 18) at 2:30 p.m.
