The best team in the United States will come from the Tri-Valley, as undefeated Granada-Livermore Baseball will face 4-1 Bollinger Canyon Little League for the national crown on Saturday and a shot at the World Series championship the next night at Max Baer Park.
The U.S. title game represents a rematch from earlier in the Little League Intermediate 50/70 Baseball World Series contested all week in Livermore. Hometown Granada-Livermore defeated Bollinger Canyon of San Ramon 16-6 in the winner’s bracket on Monday.
Granada-Livermore, which won the West Region to be one of the six U.S. teams in the tournament, sits at 2-0 after scoring 17 runs and pitching a combined no-hitter against North Dakota (Central) on Wednesday.
After losing to Granada-Livermore in its second game of the World Series, Bollinger Canyon – representing the host California District 57 – powered its way through the elimination bracket with double-digit offensive output in each of their next three games, to the tune of 47 runs total. Bollinger Canyon beat North Dakota 25-0 on Thursday to secure its spot in the tournament semifinals.Â
The U.S. title game between the two Tri-Valley teams is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, live at Max Baer Park and on ESPN+. The victor will play the winner of the international title game (Puerto Rico or Asia-Pacific) in the World Series championship game at 6 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 9).
