Cavaliers wrap up season with strong showing

The Pleasanton Cavaliers Rugby Club won third place in Varsity Silver at the Pacific Coast Invitational Rugby Tournament, which was held at San Jose State University on April 25 and 26. The team won two out of three games played and ended their season with a strong finish.

The Cavaliers won the first game on April 25 against the Vacaville Rugby Club, 24-19. James Raynel sent the team off with a try within the first two minutes of the game and Ryan Maples followed up with a conversion, 7-0. Nearing the end of the second half, Vacaville seemed uncoordinated and lacked organization, but scored later on, 17-7.

After a three-hour rest period, the Cavaliers had a difficult time getting their heads back in the game and lost to the Sacramento Islanders Rugby Club, 31-20.

Overcoming the Sacramento loss, the Cavaliers dominated 42-14 in their last game of the season against the San Mateo Rugby Football Club.

With this successful season now over, the Cavaliers bid adieu to departing seniors Alex Herzfeldt, Michael Young, Teddy Gatanis, Charles Jones, Estavan Ibarra, James Raynel, Kingston Cameron, Michael Bailey and Scott McEtchin.
