Pleasanton Girls Lacrosse team continues winning streak
The powerful Pleasanton girls lacrosse Twister team showed its force with a 9-6 victory over the Diablo Scorpions at Blackhawk Field in Danville last
Saturday.
Cambi Cukar led the team in assists and goals. Other top scorers were Lauren Hall and Tori Larsen. Evan Murphy had a great game of sliding into position and checking to stop the Scorpions’ run. Outstanding performances were given by Rebecca Dumanski of blocking the Scorpions’ shots, Kira Ewanich, Lindsey Kail and Sarah Monday. Goalies Molly Grozier and Lexi Nicholas also did a great job of stopping the Scorpions’ shots on goal. The Twister team kicked off the season on March 15 with a 12-3 victory over the Livermore Phantoms and 12-5 victory over the Lamorinda Flash.
Coach Richard Murphy moved the sixth grade team to a seventh/eighth division to give them more of a challenge, but they still remain undefeated.
Rage U16 Division 1 AC unable to advance
The Pleasanton Rage found themselves undefeated, but unable to advance in their season-ending State Cup appearance over the weekend. With a record of one win, two draws and no losses, the Rage ended their Cup chances last Sunday with a hard fought 0-0 draw against Lamorinda United 91 Blue team, the eventual bracket winners.
On Saturday morning, the Rage played to a 1-1 draw with County Line Heat. The Heat score came on a penalty kick early in the second half, following a Rage foul in the 18-yard box. Kira Capaccioli scored the tying Rage goal, off a free kick, on a low shot that found the far post corner. In the afternoon game the Rage took a controlling halftime lead of 3-1, over San Francisco Viking Typhoons. The Typhoons scored first on a free kick and three consecutive Rage goals–one by Brittany Carrolan and three by Aisla Smith followed that. The Rage then held on for the 5-4 victory, with Smith adding the game winner to her goal total of four.
