Amador PTSA needs donations

The Amador Valley PTSA is in need of donations to help Amador families in crisis this holiday season. Last year, they helped 13 families; this year, there have double the number of families who need help to make the holiday season happy for their children. Instead of asking for gifts, gift cards, canned food or anything else, theyíve requested a donation of $5 (or more). To families in need, $5 represents a jar of peanut butter and a couple loaves of bread to provide their children lunch for a week. Donations may be left with the school receptionist, or mailed to AVHSPTSA, PO Box 37, Pleasanton, CA 94566. Please give as generously as you can, and boost the spirits of an Amador family this holiday season.

BMX park

Did you know Pleasanton has a BMX park? Pleasanton’s 2.75-acre BMX Park is located at 3320 Stanley Boulevard (near Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area). The park opened in June 2005 and has a large riding area, a bike repair/work table, portable restrooms, parking, a viewing area, picnic tables and a pay phone.

It’s designed to serve riders of all levels, from young (and old) beginners to seasoned veterans. There is a track for beginners and young children. Another track includes a mountain bike area and challenging jumps for more experienced riders. The riding area has over 40 jumps and many banked turns. The park is open during daylight hours throughout the year, weather permitting. All riders, regardless of age or skill level must wear a helmet. Younger children should always be under adult supervision.
