I love it when people I’ve interviewed for the Streetwise column, come up to me wherever I happen to be (supermarket, post office, Sports Park, the gym, restaurants, etc.), because they recognize me as the columnist who interviewed them. They engage me in conversation, reminding me of the question I posed to them and then we have a conversation about it! I so value these encounters and the very unique connection that the Streetwise column gives me to our beautiful and diverse community.
I started doing it together with my youngest daughter Jenny, when she was in sixth grade. We used to go after school on Thursday afternoons to the Pleasanton Weekly office to pick up a copy of the newspaper on the day it was published. We would often bring fresh lemons from our tree to Dolores (Fox Ciardelli), and chat with her for a bit. It was so wonderful and I cherish those memories.
