Original pieces created by Bay Area artists within the past year are the focus of the 13th annual Fresh Works exhibition running now in the Harrington Gallery in downtown Pleasanton.
Described as “a vibrant showcase of innovation and experimentation”, the 2025 juried exhibition features works from 80 artists in a variety of mediums, including oil, watercolor, pastel and acrylic, according to gallery officials.
“A celebration of creativity and diversity within the community, artists and visitors alike look forward to this show each year,” Harrington Gallery curator Sydney Tang told the Weekly.
“This exhibition showcases the endless possibilities of expression and experimentation as participating artists display the work they have produced in the last year,” Tang added. “Welcoming both budding and established artists, visitors can expect to see an innovative group exhibition from the Bay Area’s vibrant creative community.”
The process began with an open call to Bay Area artists, resulting in 339 submissions from 108 artists, according to gallery officials. An anonymous panel of judges from Pleasanton city staff whittled the list down to 90 artworks to be featured in this year’s Fresh Works.
The exhibition, which opened at the end of March and hosted an award reception last weekend, runs through May 17 at the public gallery inside the city’s Firehouse Arts Center on Railroad Avenue. The gallery is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn more at firehousearts.org.
