Play zone outside mall
Amusement company FUNBOX has brought its 25,000-square-foot inflatable play zone to the Stoneridge Shopping Center parking lot for a 12-week stint in Pleasanton.

Billed as “The World’s Biggest Bounce Park”, the traveling attraction is complete with 10 activity theme areas and an obstacle course.
“I am looking forward to bringing this fun and entertaining concept to the area for the first time,” said Massad Saeed, FUNBOX franchisee. “FUNBOX will continue the summer fun well into the fall season with our amazing breadth of bounce park fun for all ages.”
I-680 remains open this weekend
Caltrans has clarified that both directions of Interstate 680 through the Pleasanton area will remain open throughout the Labor Day weekend.
Plans had been announced months ago to close northbound I-680 for construction work over the holiday weekend, but that closure was subsequently canceled, Caltrans said this week.
“Caltrans is conducting a major improvement project that will repave northbound Interstate 680 and replace entire sections of the roadway to enhance safety and provide a smoother ride to motorists. The project is taking place on I-680 between Koopman Road in Sunol and Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon,” officials said.
“Caltrans is closing lanes of traffic to accommodate the work. However, there will be no lane closures, nor will there be a full closure, on Labor Day weekend,” they added.

First human case of WNV in county
The Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District recently confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus in the county in the 2023 season.
The affected person is a resident of the city of Alameda, officials. No other details about the case were released.
“Transmission of West Nile virus most commonly occurs through the bite of a mosquito,” officials said. “Mosquitoes can receive West Nile virus from biting an infected bird. In turn, the mosquito can pass the virus to humans. The best thing the public can do to protect themselves from West Nile virus is to avoid mosquitoes and report dead birds.”
