Niles Canyon Road between Mission Boulevard in Fremont and Main Street in Sunol is closed Friday morning due to flooding, a Caltrans spokesperson said.
The road was closed shortly after 5:30 a.m. due to flooding and debris on the road. Caltrans does not have an estimate for when the road will reopen, spokesperson Janis Mara said.
Alternate routes are Interstate 680 to North Mission Boulevard or I-580 to I-238, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Drivers can call 800-427-ROAD or go to http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov for up-to-date traffic information, Fremont police said.
