This summer, Livermore elementary students are traveling around Livermore learning more about their town and math equations through Math Passport.

Math Passport is designed to guide students through the Livermore community to solve math problems. The math adventure is open until Aug. 12.

Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District created the program aimed toward grades TK-5. Students will visit 10 locations in total, starting at the Civic Center Library then traveling to nine other places such as the Bankhead Theater or the Donut Wheel.

LVJUSD math teachers on special assignment worked with the district’s UNITE (Utilizing New and Innovative Technologies in Education) team to create the Math Passport game in the TaleBlazer app.

“We are grateful to the Livermore Valley Education Foundation for sponsoring this project,” LVJUSD Superintendent Kelly Bowers said in a press release.

The app includes geocaching and working out math problems for students to keep their math skills sharp over the summer. To brush up on their reading skills, students can also participate in the library’s Summer Reading Game.
