New police dispatcher, records clerk join Pleasanton PD

The Pleasanton Police Department recently welcomed two new staff members, including an Amador Valley High School alum coming to work for her hometown department.

Sydney Ruegsegger has been hired as Pleasanton PD’s newest police dispatcher while Dori Tafoya is its new records clerk.

“We look forward to having such experienced individuals as part of our department,” Megan Wilske, the department’s support services manager, said in a statement. “They both bring a wealth of knowledge, which adds great value to our team.”

Ruegsegger, a Pleasanton native and 2012 Amador graduate, transferred to Pleasanton PD after working as a police dispatcher at the Oakland Police Department since 2018. She began her law enforcement career in 2014 as a cadet with Oakland PD.

Tafoya joined Pleasanton PD after working the past seven years as a records specialist and community service officer with the Foster City Police Department. Earlier in her career, Tafoya was assigned as a records clerk with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and as a correctional officer with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. She’s a native of Campbell and a Westmont High School alum.

The pair were recently sworn into the department at a ceremony at Pleasanton PD headquarters.
