Museum on Main and Cantabella Children’s Chorus were among the 157 arts and cultural organizations recently awarded grants from Alameda County, totaling $900,000, through its Arts Relief Grant Program.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act-funded grant program was begun to assist organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This program is managed by the Office of the Alameda County Arts Commission under the leadership of Alameda County Auditor-Controller Melissa Wilk and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
“The county recognizes that arts and cultural organizations are an essential part of our community and an instrumental aspect of our economic recovery,” Wilk said.
All qualifying applicants from throughout the county were given a grant award, ranging in size from $3,150 to $15,750, and based on the size of each organization’s operating budget.
In Pleasanton, Livermore and Dublin the following grants were awarded:
* Alameda County Fair (arts and cultural traditions): $15,750
* Cantabella Children’s Chorus (music): $3,150
* Cheza Nami Foundation (multi-disciplinary): $3,150
* CYT Tri-Valley (theater): $3,150
* Dublin Partners in Education (multi-disciplinary): $9,450
* Harmony Fusion Chorus (music): $3,150
* Livermore Art Association (visual arts): $3,150
* Livermore Cultural Arts Council (multi-disciplinary): $3,150
* Livermore Shakespeare Festival (theater): $3,150
* Livermore Valley Opera (music): $3,150
* Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center (multi-disciplinary): $15,750
* Museum on Main (visual arts): $3,150
* Pacific Chamber Orchestra (music): $3,150
* Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre (theater): $3,150
* Radiance (dance): $3,150
* Valley Concert Chorale (music): $3,150
* Valley Dance Theatre (dance): $3,150
The arts and cultural organizations in Alameda County and nationally have been particularly hard hit as these venues were among the first to close and are among the last designated for reopening.
