Firefighters from multiple agencies converged onto southern Livermore to battle a vegetation fire that was ultimately contained at 3.5 acres on Monday morning, according to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
The fire worked its way through vegetation and debris piles while threatening three buildings, according to LPFD deputy chief Joe Testa. Firefighters were able to save each building, and there were no injuries reported.

The fire broke out at about 10:45 a.m. Monday and was contained to private property and Livermore Area Recreation and Park District property just south of the Veterans Affairs medical center, according to Testa.
“It is believed that the fire started at or near an access road, but the cause remains undetermined,” Testa said.
Assisting LPFD in the fire response were crews from Alameda County Fire Department, Cal Fire and Camp Parks Fire Department. Firefighters remained at the scene into the afternoon on Monday to mop up hotspots, Testa said.
The deputy chief added that the incident should serve as a reminder for all residents to remain ready during wildfire season, especially those in rural areas or near significant vegetation.
“As wildfire season is now upon us, this fire serves as a good reminder to maintain 100 feet of vegetation clearance around buildings and to have a ‘go bag’ ready in the event of an evacuation for those that live adjacent to wildland areas,” Testa said.
