A 19-year-old Tracy woman found with fatal stab wounds early Monday morning in unincorporated Livermore in eastern Alameda County has been identified by sheriff’s deputies as Lizette Andrea Cuesta.

A motorist found Cuesta with multiple stab wounds near Tesla Road, roughly two miles west of the Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area, at 2:06 a.m., according to Sgt. Ray Kelly.

She was airlifted to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley and was pronounced dead around 4:30 a.m.

Investigators believe Cuesta was killed with malice aforethought, dumped from a vehicle and left for dead. She crawled on her stomach 100 yards or more before being found.

Two suspects were arrested in Modesto after Cuesta made a “very compelling dying declaration” about who stabbed her, Kelly said.

Kelly has identified murder suspects as a Modesto couple — 19-year-old Daniel Gross and 25-year-old Melissa Leonardo, who are both in custody at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on no-bail status. Authorities previously reported the two arrested suspects both 19 years old.

The defendants are scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the East County Hall of Justice in Dublin, Kelly said.

  1. I am so sad for this young lady Lizettes family. I can not imagine losing a child but to have one taken by willful thought through murder is even more awful. May the two that did this be put away for the rest of their lives!
