The Foothill High School marching band and colorguard will lead a parade of 35 middle and high school bands down Main Street Saturday morning as part of the all-day Band Review.

The 43rd annual event showcases school bands from throughout Northern California with various competitions held during the day.

The day will kick off with the concert competition at Amador Valley High from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

The parade downtown will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, when the bands will march south on Main Street until 1 p.m. PUSD superintendent David Haglund is serving as the parade’s grand marshal this year.

Street closures for the parade will begin around 5:30 a.m. and are expected to last until 2 p.m, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.

Streets that will be closed include:

– Del Valle Parkway between Main and Hometown Way

– Vervais Road at Santa Rita Road

– Southbound lanes of Santa Rita Road to Old Stanley

– Main Street from Old Stanley to Abbie Street

– Rose Avenue between Main Street and Peters Avenue

– Angela Street from Main Street to Peters Avenue

Rose/Neal Avenue as well as Ray, Spring and Division streets will also be closed to through or cross traffic at Main Street.

Parade and concert awards are scheduled for 3 p.m. at Amador.

Starting at 3:30 p.m., the field show competition featuring 20 marching bands will take place at Foothill.

General admission to the field show is $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. There will be no charge for those who just want to watch Foothill’s closing performance, which is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Residents who want to watch the Foothill marching band and color guard are encouraged to arrive by 9 p.m.

Awards will follow at 10 p.m.
