Pleasanton native Sean Mannion, a star quarterback at Foothill High and Oregon State University, was drafted in the third round of the NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams last week.

The 23-year-old Mannion finished his collegiate career in December as the Pac-12’s all-time leader in passing yards (13,600), completions (1,187) and attempts (1,838). He also threw for 83 touchdowns for the Beavers.

The Rams selected Mannion with the 89th overall pick of the draft last Friday.

The 2010 Foothill High grad is set to join St. Louis’ corps of quarterbacks behind starter Nick Foles, who the Rams acquired in a trade this off-season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The other backup QBs currently on the St. Louis roster are Case Keenum and Austin Davis, each of whom have NFL starting experience.
