Assemblyman Bob Wieckowski (D-20th) is joining with an Alameda County workforce group to sponsor a special job fair today for former employees, vendors and contractors of Solyndra, a Fremont-based solar panel manufacturing company that recently laid off 1,100 employees and filed for bankruptcy.
The job fair will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Ohlone College Newark Center, 39399 Cherry St., Newark. Free parking is available onsite.
The job fair, which will feature more than two dozen employers, is being coordinated by the Alameda County Workforce Investment Board. For more information, visit the investment board’s website at https://www.eastbayworks.com/alamedacounty/.
“In these difficult economic times, I will continue to notify 20th Assembly District residents of these local job fair opportunities,” said Wieckowski, whose 20th Assembly District includes Pleasanton.
“My staff will be at the job fair to answer any legislative questions you may have and to inform you of what steps the state legislature is taking to increase jobs,” he told the laid-off workers.
