Public interest lawyer Dennis Hayashi of Castro Valley and Deputy District Attorney Phil Daly of San Leandro will compete in a runoff election
November 4 for an open judge position on the Alameda County Superior Court bench.
An election wrapup story in Friday’s print edition of the Pleasanton Weekly erred in naming Hayashi as the winner in Tuesday’s primary.
Hayashi and Daly were the top two finishers in a four-way race to replace Judge Kenneth ingsbury, who recently retired. But neither received the 50 percent-plus-one vote needed to avoid a runoff.
Hayashi, who’s married to state Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi (D-Castro Valley), finished first with 42.8 percent of the vote and Daly came in second with 25.7 percent of the vote.
State Public Utilities Commission Administrative Law Judge Victoria Kolalowski of Oakland finished third with 20.1 percent and criminal
defense attorney Dennis Reid of San Leandro was fourth with 10.9 percent.
An election wrapup story in Friday’s print edition of the Pleasanton Weekly (June 6, 2008) erred in naming Hayashi as the winner in Tuesday’s primary.
