Spencer Thomas Finch, a 31-year-old transient from Union City, was arrested Monday night after he was caught trying to steal a truck, according to police.
At about 10 p.m. Monday, a janitor at 6940 Koll Center Drive called police after reportedly seeing a man force open the driver’s side door of a brown Chevy Silverado pickup truck and unsuccessfully try to start the engine.
Police allegedly found Finch inside the vehicle along with a backpack that contained burglary tools–including a drill, bolt cutters and screwdrivers–and items belonging to the vehicle owner.
The car lock had been drilled out and the ignition lock was damaged.
Finch was booked at Santa Rita Jail on charges of attempted auto theft, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.
