Pat Lane (above), marketing coordinator for the Pleasanton Farmers Market, replaces one of a score of food baskets that are being filled quickly each Saturday as part of a special program to benefit Open Heart Kitchen. Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Director John Silveira said he teamed up with the Pleasanton Presbyterian Church to make it easy for shoppers to help Open Heart Kitchen, which serves 3,500 meals weekly to families, children and senior citizens in the Tri-Valley.
“We have eight collection stations at the Pleasanton market and we’ve had very enthusiastic responses,” Silveira said. “The baskets fill up quickly as our shoppers recognized the help their donated food will provide to the needy.”
