Pleasanton’s Flo Broadhurst sports a special birthday tiara at her birthday party March 15 at Pleasanton Gardens. The festivities were designed as a “high tea” in deference to Broadhurst’s English background.

Emigrating from Manchester, England in 1974, Broadhurst today remains active in Pleasanton’s VIP Senior Program, the Pleasanton Presbyterian Church and the local chapter of the Daughters of the British Empire.

Her party Wednesday was followed up with a birthday gathering Saturday at Castlewood Country Club with her fellow Daughters of the British Empire club members and a luncheon with friends Monday. Broadhurst’s daughter, Edith Caponigro, 62, and family also live in Pleasanton. Broadhurst has lived at Pleasanton Gardens since 1980 where, Caponigro said, “She has been a cornerstone ever since.”
