A 17-year-old boy died after the BMW he was driving crashed into a tree alongside Del Valle Road in Livermore over the weekend, according to the California Highway Patrol.
In a post on X, CHP’s Dublin office said officers responded just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 4) to a solo-vehicle crash involving a BMW 535i that had been speeding on Del Valle Road south of Mendenhall Road in unincorporated Livermore.
The sedan struck a tree next to the county road east of Lake Del Valle. The driver, whose name has not yet been released, died as a result of his injuries, according to the CHP.
Investigators urge anyone who saw what transpired to contact CHP-Dublin at 925-828-0466.
“We are looking for any witnesses that may have seen this crash,” CHP officials stated in the X post. “Please, slow down, and drive with respect not only for you but others on the road.”

How very sad. Social media site Next Door frequently has posts from people observing vehicles being driven recklessly, at high speeds, and in a dangerous manner. Often with a plea to “tell his parents” or “I hope his parents will see this and tell him/her to stop.” Always with a caution to “avoid this driver”. And then it happens.
Parents, point this story out to your teen drivers. Try to help them understand why rules of the road and speed laws are in place. Impress upon them the benefits of responsible driving. Do the best you can to avoid a repeat of this story. Don’t be afraid to take away the car keys.
It tales a village to protect a village. And now a village mourns.
