The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department quickly extinguished a small brush fire near the Bernal Community Park in Pleasanton Wednesday afternoon.

LPFD spokesperson Rosa Ramos told the Weekly the department is currently investigating the cause of the fire, which is currently unknown.
News of the fire first came up in an alert sent out by the Pleasanton Police Department just before 4 p.m. which advised residents to avoid the area.
Ramos said the fire had spread approximately two acres between Valley Avenue and the Interstate 680 highway. She said the fire was in an open field and that no structures were threatened.
She said five LPFD fire engines responded to the fire along with two battalion chiefs and that even though the fire was put out quickly, there is “a lot of mop up due to debris.”
