Holiday skating is returning to San Ramon, with City Center Bishop Ranch welcoming back the Kristi Yamaguchi Holiday Ice Rink from this weekend into the new year.

Complete with a new slate of special theme nights and a larger rink (with 8% more ice than last year), the Kristi Yamaguchi Holiday Ice Rink officially opens this Friday (Nov. 7) with a ceremony from 6-7 p.m. featuring the local Olympic gold medalist.

The open-air rink will be operating daily through Jan. 4 (except for closure days on Thanksgiving and Christmas), open as early as 11 a.m. and closing as late as 10:30 p.m. on certain days. Skating access is sold in 90-minute sessions with skate rental included.

To encourage community experiences, City Center has organized theme nights for the ice rink throughout the season: Pajama Party (Nov. 12), The Grinch Night (Nov. 19), Elsa Night (Dec. 3), Elf Night (Dec. 10), Ugly Sweater Night (Dec. 17), New Year’s Eve Glow Night (Dec. 31), K-Pop Night (Jan. 1), Sabrina Carpenter Night (Jan. 2) and Taylor Swift Night (Jan. 4).

Yamaguchi herself will also host a special skating clinic on the morning of Dec. 6. Select weeks will see $10 Tuesdays for a special admission discount across all sessions those days. The rink will offer private reservations for birthdays, corporate parties or other events, as well as private rink-side fire pits and couch for up to four guests daily.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Yamaguchi’s Always Dream nonprofit organization.

In addition to the ice rink opening ceremony, City Center has two other holiday events this month: the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 21 and the Bishop Ranch Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27.
