Pleasanton-based pet support nonprofit Valley Humane Society is holding its annual Tails at Twilight fundraiser a bit earlier this year, a black-and-white ball for the spring season next month at Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery.
The annual gala on April 12 will benefit Valley Humane’s range of programs including cat and dog adoptions, its Phil Scholz Veterinary Surgery Center, AniMeals pet food pantry and Canine Comfort pet-assisted therapy.
Tails at Twilight isn’t just a gala — it’s a night that changes lives,” development manager Claire Maniti told the Weekly. “The funds raised at our gala directly support Valley Humane Society’s lifesaving programs, enabling us to care for animals in need and provide vital veterinary and mental health support to our community.”
Holding the gala a few months sooner than usual helps position the nonprofit well for its 2025 goals. “Valley Humane looks forward to an exciting year, as we continue to grow and serve the needs of people and pets in our community in new and much-needed ways, like expanding access to veterinary care,” CEO Melanie Sadek said.
Promising a night of “furry fun” for attendees, the 11th Tails at Twilight is billed as a “glorious Black & White Ball” theme. Valley Humane Canine Comfort dogs will greet arriving guests during the champagne reception that also features the silent auction and passed hors d’oeuvres.
A formal seated dinner will follow, setting the stage for the live auction, round of “Heads or Tails” and dancing. The auction headliner is a seven-night cycling tour for two through Sicily Baroque villages in Italy.
Valley Humane Society officials said they will not include their exclusive Ambassadog packages in this year’s gala due to the earlier timing of the event. The respective Ambassadogs for Pleasanton and Livermore for 2025 were already crowned separately.
Tails at Twilight is set to run from 6-11 p.m. April 12 at Ruby Hill Winery on Vineyard Avenue in Pleasanton. For tickets, details on auction items, sponsorships or other information, visit valleyhumane.org.
