State of the County

The Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual State of the County address featuring Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert at its Wine Country Luncheon next Thursday (April 25) at Garre Vineyard & Winery in Livermore.
In his speech, Haubert “will give an update on vital issues happening in Alameda County,” according to chamber officials. Tickets are available online at business.livermorechamber.org for the event that runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Housing solutions
The Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance is holding this year’s first meeting of the Anti-Poverty Collaborative next month, with a morning presentation focusing on the “State of Housing for Vulnerable Populations in the Tri-Valley.”
Keynote speakers will address “the urgent need for housing solutions for seniors, transitioned-age youth, people with disabilities, the homeless and the nearly homeless” while the ensuing panel discussion will focus on “insights on current trends, successful strategies and ongoing community needs,” according to organizers.
The free event runs from 10 a.m. to noon on May 2 at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore. Go to tvnpa.org.
Sunol potluck
The Sunol Wood Fire Oven Society is presenting the Sunol Community Spring Potluck this Saturday (April 20) at 2 p.m. in the Sunol Depot Gardens after a park workday event there.
The group will be providing focaccia pork and chicken sandwiches with homemade coleslaw and spicy sauce, while attendees are encouraged to bring another dish or dessert to share along with their own plates, utensils and drinks.
Denim Day
Tri-Valley Haven has organized a local Denim Day event next week in Livermore as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
In recognition of the international “day of action and awareness in which people are encouraged to wear denim to combat victim blaming and educate others about sexual violence … Tri-Valley Haven hosts Denim Day to honor all survivors and combat victim blaming which unfortunately still happens all too often,” the nonprofit said.
The Denim Day march will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday (April 24) in downtown Livermore, with participants in denim walking up and down the First Street sidewalk from the Bankhead to L Street and back. Learn more by visiting trivalleyhaven.org.
