Following an uncontested race in the March 5 primary election, Supervisor David Haubert is embarking on his second term representing Alameda County’s District 1.

Haubert will continue to represent the areas of Livermore, Dublin, and parts of Fremont, Sunol and Pleasanton. As one of five elected leaders on the board, Haubert plays a crucial role in overseeing the county budget, setting policy direction and awarding county contracts, among other duties.

Throughout his time on the board, Haubert has championed various issues, including homelessness, maintaining fiscal responsibility and advocating for improvements to traffic and roadways within Alameda County.

Haubert expressed gratitude and determination in an interview following the certification of election results.

“My goal for the upcoming term is to build on the progress we’ve made and continue working tirelessly to address the pressing issues facing our community,” Haubert told Livermore Vine.

“I’m committed to finding innovative solutions … I look forward to collaborating with my fellow supervisors and community stakeholders to achieve our shared vision for a better future,” he added.

Haubert holds decades-long ties to the local government and leadership positions.

Haubert’s public service dates back to 2002, when he was elected to the Dublin Unified School District Board of Trustees. He would spend 10 years on the board, serving in both the president and vice president roles. In 2012, he transitioned to municipal governance by winning a seat on the Dublin City Council. Two years later, he was elected as the mayor of Dublin.

He was first elected to his current role as District 1 supervisor in 2020.

As part of his duties as District 1 supervisor, Haubert serves on the Alameda County Transportation Commission, the Livermore-Amador Valley Transportation Authority, and the Alameda County Local Area Formation Commission.

“We need to invest in infrastructure upgrades to alleviate traffic and improve public transportation. Additionally I’m committed to fostering economic development and job creation to ensure our community’s resilience in the post-pandemic recovery,” Haubert said. “My vision is to ensure that we continue to grow sustainably while preserving our unique character and sense of community.”

His reelection campaign garnered support from local and regional affiliations including the Deputy Sheriffs Association of Alameda County, Livermore Pleasanton Firefighters Union, and the Livermore Police Association.

“Now more than ever, it’s crucial that we come together as a community to address the challenges we face,” Haubert said. “By working together, we can build a brighter future for all residents of Alameda County.”
