After back-to-back meetings over the weekend, the Pleasanton Unified School District Board of Trustees will reconvene for two additional closed sessions Tuesday and Wednesday to continue discussions regarding the district’s search for a new superintendent.

The board will not be taking any action during either one of the June 17 and June 18 special board meetings, according to the agenda’s for both sessions.

The board has been working with executive search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) throughout these past few months to complete the search process for PUSD top administrator.

These two latest meetings mark the fifth and sixth time the board has deliberated over the district’s search for its new superintendent this month.

Back in May, the board met several times to conduct interviews and was poised to discuss an employment contract for a potential candidate at the beginning of June before the district unexpectedly canceled that meeting due to ongoing deliberations.

While there are still no final candidates who have been named for the top district position, the board had previously outlined its hope to have someone in place by the start of the school year as Interim Superintendent Maurice Ghysels’ year-long temporary tenure is expected to end this month. Ghysels took over the role of interim superintendent last July following the departure of former superintendent David Haglund.

Both meetings are set to take place at the district offices starting at 2 p.m. each day. Prior to the closed-session discussion will be a portion of the meeting set aside for public comments.
