Three masked men reportedly broke into a Tesla at a charging station located outside a shuttered restaurant in Pleasanton and began fighting with the driver inside the vehicle Tuesday.
According to Pleasanton police Lt. Brandon Stocking, all of the involved parties left the scene before officers arrived and no victim has reached out to police.
“While this certainly appears to have been a robbery, we have not had a victim come forward claiming a crime,” Stocking told the Pleasanton Weekly Wednesday.
The lieutenant said the altercation took place just before 5 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 18).
Police responded to a report of a possible robbery in progress at the Shell Gas Station located at 6750 Santa Rita Road. However, according to Stocking, the incident actually occurred at the Tesla charging stations located in front of the AK Lounge — a restaurant that is closed — just to the east of the Shell Gas Station.
Witnesses reported three masked men approached a man seated in his Tesla and broke one of his windows before they began fighting with the man, according to Stocking.
Upon arriving, police learned that in addition to the culprits fleeing the scene — police believe they fled in a dark-colored Tesla — the victim left as well. Stocking said the victim has not contacted the police department regarding the incident as of Wednesday afternoon.
“We conducted a thorough area check and located security footage which showed the altercation happened as described by witnesses,” he said.
As of Wednesday, police still do not have any further descriptions of the suspects. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the department at 925-931-5100, Stocking said.
