Come to our concert

The Pleasanton Weekly will be sponsoring next Friday’s Concert in the Park, which takes place at the Lions Wayside Park in downtown Pleasanton.

The concert, which is part of the Pleasanton Downtown Association’s Concert in the Park series, will feature the Diablo Fugitives, a rock cover band based out of Walnut Creek. Their set is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Friday (Aug. 21)

Make sure to stop by the Weekly’s booth and meet our reporters, staff and leaders before and during the event. We look forward to seeing you there!

Fundraising match

The Valley Humane Society is asking the public to donate to the nonprofit animal shelter’s Medical Assistance Fund after one generous donor offered to match up to $40,000 of contributions through Aug. 31.

The Medical Assistance Fund, according to the organization, was created to “expand access to veterinary care with the belief that every animal deserves access to high-quality veterinary care”. It offers special treatment for shelter animals, pays for spay and neuter surgeries when families can’t afford it and delivers veterinary care to pet guardians who receive support services from other partner organizations.

According to Valley Humane, the match could help raise up to $80,000, which would help the organization deliver twice as much help to animals in the community.
