‘Chair-ity’ fundraiser
The Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council is launching a new fundraiser where residents can buy chairs that have been painted by local artists in order to support ongoing art programs.
“Each chair is available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council and its mission to encourage, support, and promote the arts in Pleasanton schools and throughout the community,” the nonprofit stated in a recent press release.
According to the PCAC, the “Take a Seat Chair-ity Fundraiser” was set to begin selling these chairs on its website starting Wednesday and will showcase the pieces at the Fourth of July celebration happening in Pleasanton this Saturday and at the July 11 reception at Gallery Da Vinci, located in downtown Pleasanton.

Balkan comedy night
Tommy T’s Comedy Club in Pleasanton is hosting a Balkan comedy night this Sunday where a lineup of touring comedians who come from Balkan roots will celebrate their “shared cultures, traditions, and family experiences of the region through stand-up comedy”.
According to a press release for the event, comedians scheduled to perform include Stoyan Angelov, a San Francisco-based comedian who is originally from Bulgaria and who will be hosting the event, and standup comedians Denis Yugoslavia and Ryan Radusinovic.
The show, which begins at 7 p.m., will be performed entirely in English but will include “plenty of Balkan references”. For more information, visit tommyts.com.
Olson retires
The city of Livermore is recruiting for a new administrative services director after longtime Tri-Valley municipal official Tina Olson retired as the head of the department in May.
Olson joined Livermore in the role in March 2022 after working the previous seven years for Pleasanton, where she was that city’s director of finance.
Livermore spokesperson Sonia Lee praised Olson upon her retirement, saying city leaders were “grateful for her leadership and dedication to the Livermore community”.
“During her time with the City, Tina helped oversee balanced budgets and the development of thoughtful, responsible fiscal strategies that supported essential community investments, including fire stations, parks, and other public amenities,” Lee said. “She also led impactful talent development initiatives and helped implement several significant technology improvements, including the comprehensive public-facing GIS portal.”
Livermore human resources manager Kristen Hilton has been serving as acting administrative services director the past two months while the city conducts its recruitment process for a permanent successor. The application window closes on Sunday, according to Lee.
Independence Day shuttle
Wheels, the Tri-Valley bus system, will be providing a special shuttle service for community members looking to attend Livermore’s Independence Day event this Saturday.
The shuttle, which will operate as Wheels Route 74, will bring eventgoers from Las Positas College to the Livermore Municipal Airport, which is where the event will take place. The shuttle will begin service at 9 a.m. and continue running until right after the event ends.
No parking is allowed at the airport parking, according to a Wheels press release. Limited parking will be available at LPC, which is why Wheels is also recommending attendees to park for free at the Livermore Valley Center Parking Garage and take Route 30R to LPC and transfer to Route 74.
