The Flourish Collective, a Danville-based nonprofit focusing on building community and promoting social justice, is hosting its “Cultivate Hope” fundraiser later this month, aiming to bring members of the East Bay community together for a night of fun while raising money for meaningful programs and grants.
According to the organization, the fundraiser’s theme will be set in the 1920s Harlem Renaissance. In addition to a live jazz quartet, Faith Alpher, a Livermore-based educational speaker, actor, author and comedian who is also a Flourish community board member, will be performing spoken word during the event.

“The Harlem Renaissance was born in one of America’s most difficult eras — and yet from that darkness came an extraordinary creation of art, music, culture, and collective joy,” Michele Sbrana, executive director of The Flourish Collective, said in an April 6 press release.
“Cultivate Hope honors that same spirit,” Sbrana added. “In a time when vulnerable communities are under great pressure, we gather not in denial of what is hard — but as people who have chosen hope, allyship, and each other. This evening is that refusal to be diminished.”
According to the organization’s press release, The Flourish Collective has awarded over $300,000 in impact grants to “justice-focused organizations working in community development, education, and health outcomes” since its founding in 2020.
During the event, attendees will be able to bid on silent and live auctions while enjoying gourmet food provided by Livermore’s On the Vine catering company. Drinks, including wine, will also be available.
According to the press release for the event, the fundraiser will take place next Saturday (May 16) from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Oakstop Ballroom, located at 1721 Broadway in Oakland.
Tickets cost $140 per person and include food, parking and one complimentary drink. For more information on the event and to purchase tickets, visit www.theflourishcollective.org.
